NEW SEALY POSTUREPEDIC® LINE HELPS AMERICANS MAXIMIZEEVERY MINUTE OF SLEEP
07.28.2008

New Innerspring Mattress is Designed to Eliminate Tossing and Turning Caused by Uncomfortable Pressure Points

TRINITY, NC (July 28, 2008) – Sealy (NYSE: ZZ) has introduced a new Sealy Posturepedic® Innerspring mattress. Designed to eliminate tossing and turning caused by uncomfortable pressure points, the new Sealy Posturepedic Innerspring helps time-crunched consumers maximize every minute of sleep they can get.

“Americans are leading busier lives than ever before,” said Larry Rogers, CEO and president for Sealy.  “Research tells us we are not getting enough sleep – in fact, instead of eight we’re getting little more than six hours a night. Sealy has created a cutting-edge sleep system that helps you make the most of every moment of sleep you do get. Our new Posturepedic integrates orthopedic research with the latest technology to help you get a better six.”

The innovative Sealy Posturepedic innerspring line provides a unique combination of push-back support and maximum pressure relief, offering a significant reduction in pressure points leading to a more restful and restorative sleep. It is designed to help distribute weight away from the heavier parts of the body, relieving pressure from where it is concentrated. These new design elements enhance support in the shoulders, lumbar region and the back of the legs, helping maintain proper spinal alignment, blood flow and circulation for a restful and restorative sleep.

“Studies show tossing and turning is one of the biggest obstacles to a good night’s sleep,” said Mark Delahanty, vice president Sealy marketing. “However, consumers frequently misattribute the cause, not understanding the problem is often with pressure points created by their mattress. This insight was the inspiration for the new Posturepedic innerspring line. Excessive pressure from a sleep surface creates discomfort that automatically triggers the body to move and these movements disrupt sleep.”

Posturepedic Innerspring Announcement
The new Sealy Posturepedic innerspring was designed in conjunction with the Orthopedic Advisory Board (OAB), comprised of top orthopedic surgeons, researchers and clinicians from leading universities and medical centers. With the goal to design mattresses that help the world sleep better, Sealy and the OAB continue to conduct research to better understand the impact of sleep quality and its effect on health and wellness.

The Sealy Posturepedic Innerspring mattresses are available nationally. The mattresses come in three series - Preferred, Reserve and Signature – and range from $599 to more than $1,000, retail price in queen set.
